The Tactical Department is responsible for keeping the ship safe from external threats. From their post on the bridge, they control shields, phasers, torpedoes, and most of the ship's sensor arrays. The Hyperion has heavier weaponry than a Sovereign Class vessel as well as heavier shielding. It's Tactical's job to keep these systems running smoothly during battle.
The Hyperion's Tactical department consists of 10 to 15 men including 5 officers. The Chief Tactical officer is Ensign Ivan Drakov.
USS Hyperion Total Tactical Armaments
Weapon Systems
Primary: 12 Type XII Phaser Arrays
Secondary: 1 Rapid Fire Quantum Torpedo Turret (600 Torpedoes)
4 Burst Fire Photon Torpedo Launchers (500 Torpedoes)
Tertiary: 1 Spinal Mounted Plasmic Phaser Cannon
*The Plasmic Phaser Cannon was developed in coalition with the Romulans
and Klingons during the war with the Dominion. The cannon works by
dropping a sphere of plasma into a tube coated in a negatively charged
conductor. As the sphere is shot through the tube, the conductors
are changed to a positive charge, repelling the sphere. This gives
the plasma sphere great velocity. However, while its damage is great,
it is unidirectional and drains vast amounts of power.
Defensive Systems
Shields: Triple Layered
Multi-Phasic shielding.
