USS Hyperion 7438-D

I. Requirements

In General, players are expected to post at least once a week.  Officers, and Senior Staff, two or more times a week.

If you aren't able to fulfill the minimum (because of "real life problems" for example), please contact the Captain, the First Officer or your Department head.

II. Quoting posts

Try (if possible) to quote two posts previous to your own (or more), but try not to quote more than five posts (because it may take too long to load the mail) so please don't forget to "cut" your posts.

III. New missions

If you have an idea for a new mission, DON'T simply start with it. Write an overview which contains possible enemies/characters/other ships and, of course, the story line of the whole mission and send it to the Captain, the First Officer or the Second Officer. If they approve your mission, you can go on with it.

IV. Promotions & Commendations

Usually, a promotions depends on the frequency and quality of your posts and on what you're doing besides that for your ship. (Creating new images/texts for example). The Captain and the First Officer decide if you deserve a promotion or not. If you don't receive one, that doesn't mean you aren't doing a good job aboard, but usually, you receive promotions by doing an EXTRA good job on board.

BTW, if you aren't Commanding Officer of your ship, don't mention that other characters may receive a promotion (unless of course, this is the truth and you have talked to the CO/XO). We don't want people to get the wrong idea and later, they are disappointed, if they don't get a promotion.

Commendations: If you think one of your fellow collegues or friends deserves a commendation, please say which one (Citation Of Valor, etc. can be found on theTango Fleet Commendations Page) and the reason why you think the person deserves a commandation.

V. Chain Of Command

If you have problems with something/somebody, please contact your department head first. If the problem IS the department head (or your superior officer), don't hesitate to contact the Captain, the First Officer or the Second Officer. Don't let the whole ship know, contact them privately, so we can handle this matter privately and no one will get embarassed.

(BTW, always contact first your Department Head or surperior officer and don't always bother the Captain or the First Officer. They are very occupied people and try to design interesting missions, so life on board never gets boring. Of course, if they are your last chance they are happy to help you ... and they are happy if they receive a small note from time to time which tells them that they are doing a great job. This note is from the player then, NOT from the character, don't forget that.:-))

VI. General

As we have all hopefully learned at the Academy, don't forget:

-- to sign with your name.
-- the OFF:/ON: off:/on:
-- symbols:
Telepathy: Cmdr. Troi: ~tries to touch the thoughts of Com. Riker ~
Communicator: Capt. Starr:+tap+ Starr to Gordon. One to beam up. +tap+
-- that this is a PG rated Sim. You can use minor swears (Damn, hell) and NO explit sexual details. Hugs and kisses are okay however, but in some very certain cases, just cut the scene and we can all imagine what has happened (or hasn't happened, depends on you. ;-)) We don't want to offend anyone and some of the crew members may still be minors. You never know.

DON'T walk around and kill characters and if you do, be sure to bring them back (and even in this case, you have to talk to the owner of that character and the Captain to see if it fits into the general story line.) You also can't kill NPCs which fill important positions on your ship, just because they are NPCs. Talk first to the CO/XO before doing this. Of course, there are always nameless characters and holocharacters and characters you yourself have made up. If they don't have an important part in the whole sim, you can kill them. If you aren'T sure, just talk, yaou have guessed it, to the CO/XO.

Read other people's post! You always have to know what's going on. Don't forget, you're part of the crew and of the family.  We know that real life can bog you down at times, but if you post before reading all the mail, you could alter a plot that's happening!

Super Hero Sydrome: Avoid it at all costs, it's a story killer, as you have hopefully learned at the Academy.

Concerning style: We accept both, novel style and script style, though we prefer script.
